A2 SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS
THE MARS EXPLORATION ROVER SIMULATION

This site has been desgned by a group of students from the School of Cognitive and Computer Science at the University of Sussex, Brighton. The site has been designed as part of a group Software Design Project.

The site is still under construction and will continue to grow as the project developes.

SOFTWARE SPECIFICATIONS

The National Aeronautics Space Administration(NASA),together with the European Space Agency(ESA) and the Canadian Space Agency(CSA),have identified the need to design and implememnt high-quality software simulations, that will help scientists to plan future planet exploration missions. The aim of this project is to build such interactive simulation facility. The software system proposed is a Java application or applet (this has been left up to the individual software houses to decide), in which the users explore the movement and the behaviour of a Mars rover. The rover moves in different locations within a simulated grid map of mars and observes landscape and bojects and conducts measurements and scientific experiments (such as collecting rock samples, taking infrared photos, etc...). The specification divides this software into three modules : an INTERFACE , a MAPPER and an OBJECT MANAGER. The three modules should be designed and implemented seperately.GO TO BACKGROUND INFORMATION
